April 2007
Following the initial 2006 application of Genesys’ two leadership frameworks—the Genesys Alignment and the Genesys SCORE™ models—to 26,825 participants of the Second Fleet and the subsequent report of the application’s analysis, action plans were developed and implemented to accelerate and drive the Second Fleet’s ability to execute the Commander’s Guidance, Fleet Response Plan (FRP), and Operational Risk Management (ORM) initiatives, to maximize and replicate existing areas of best practices, and to remove identified barriers to the Fleet’s alignment while reducing risk. The implementation of the action plans, which built on the Fleet’s strengths and targeted areas that required focus, reaped significant rewards. The 2007 results of the second application of the two leadership frameworks showed dramatic improvements in alignment and operational performance from the initial 2006 baseline alignment and execution capability analysis.
Second Fleet leadership will continue to work with Genesys Solutions to utilize the 2007 analysis to drive further alignment improvements and increased execution capability of the Fleet’s strategic initiatives.
The Second Fleet, which is headquartered in Norfolk, VA, is a combined component of the US Navy’s Atlantic Fleet. The Second Fleet provides six Carrier Strike Groups, five Expeditionary Strike Groups, and seven Surface Strike Groups in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom and maritime security operations. The Fleet also serves as Maritime Headquarters with a Maritime Operation Center.
